Roberta grew up in New York City and now lives near Washington, DC.
She discovered haiku while living and working in Tokyo for 5 years in
the 1990's and has been writing short poems ever since.
Roberta's collection, The Unworn Necklace, won first prize in the 2006
Snapshot Press Haiku Competition.
In 2006, Roberta co-edited fish in love, the Haiku Society of America
Members' Anthology. Contest highlights include a grand prize trip
to Japan award in the Kusamakura Haiku Contest; 1st prize Tokutomi
Memorial Haiku Contest; 1st place Brady Senryu Contest; and special
prize Haiku International and Hekinan Haiku Contests.
Roberta's work appears in the collections A New Resonance 2, Taboo
Haiku, Shiki Haikusphere, Red Moon Anthology series, Contemporary
Haibun, and Rose Haiku .
2006 saw Roberta's first experience as an editor for the Red Moon
Anthology
series.
In 2007, Roberta Beary won The Snapshot Press Haiku Collection
Competition 2006 with the collection The Unworn Necklace
